Screw Removal 2
Vol. 22 #2, Sept. 1995

When pushing a screw using a threaded screw pusher, do not use the extruder drive to turn the screw while holding a wrench on the end of the stationary threaded screw pusher. There may be enough driving torque to cause damage to the screw or gearbox as the key is pushed clear of the keyway.

If the extruder drive is used to push the screw after the screw is clear of the gearbox, the possibility still exists that the screw can bind up and pull the wrench on the end of the rod from your grasp, causing personal injury.
