During installation or removal of an extruder screw, it is very easy to damage the sharp bimetallic barrel liner edge at the breaker plate recess.
To prevent this, always insert a steel ring into the recess made with an outer diameter the same as the breaker plate and a bore to match the barrel ID with a slight chamfer. The ring will protect this delicate sealing edge.
