Vol 17 #1, Feb. 1990 - Anti seize compounds

Many nuts and bolts and other parts around the extruder must be disassembled periodically. It is a good idea to apply a high temperature anti seize compound and lubricant to threaded parts to prevent galling of the mating metal parts.

Anti seize compounds come in a variety of chemical formulations, but one of the best known ones in Molybdenum Disulphide MoS2 It is usable up to 800o F.

Graphite can also be used; it is good up to 1000° F and TFE is also used but is limited to temperatures below 500°F.
