Line log

Vol. 27 #2, November 2000 Keeping notes of previous problems and what one did to solve that problem can save time. Many plants utilize a notebook on each extrusion line to record changes on all 3 shifts. This serves as a great communications tool. Make it the operator’s responsibility to record information in the log, not the supervisor. The operator is the most knowledgeable about what changes were made and why. The supervisors need to show interest by checking the log.

Also see the Forms section for also-important forms for setup and data collection.
