Removing Polymer Melt
Vol. 27 #2, November 2000
A useful trick for removing polymer melt from deep channels and intricate die or extruder parts is the use of compressed air. Use a compressed air nozzle to direct cooling at the melt while pulling the melt away from the part. The polymer solidifies as it is being removed. In this way, polymer can often be completely removed from hard to reach areas of the part.
