Pre-Drying Moisture Sensitive Polymer
Vol. 27 #1, March 2000
When pre-drying a moisture sensitive polymer, it is important to remember that any component that is volatile at less than the specified drying temperature may also be removed. This would include additives such as plasticizers, lubricants, and fire retardants. The removal of these additives may affect the properties of the product being extruded and they may also contaminate the dryer’s desiccant beds.
