Screen changing with a continuous screen changer
Vol.21 #1, June 1994
Many customers are concerned with when to make a screen change when utilizing a unit designed for continuous operation of the extrusion process. Upon examination of the pressure loss curves typical through a screen pack over time, it is obvious that the largest pressure build up occurs during the last 20 percent of useable screen life.
For this reason, it is imperative that a screen change be made before the pressure buildup begins to increase sharply. Doing this will result in only a slightly shorter screen life cycle but will greatly decrease the probability of a process upset from the pressure drop from new screens.
