System Controls
Vol. 31 #2, Fall 2004
Material handling systems utilize very sensitive level control devices that are prone to shock and excessive vibration. If there is a faulty leveling device, the system will fail and will need to be replaced. Some uneducated operators will use the “sledge hammer approach” (using hammers to bang on hoppers), which in turn will destroy additional sensing devices. Use the common sense approach: talk to your maintenance department to repair the faulty ones and keep your hammer in the toolbox!
