Strand Cooling: Good Housekeeping
Vol. 17 #4, Mar. 1991
A common way to strip water off of polymer strands exiting a water bath is to use an air knife. However, the water tends to drip/spray onto the flow, creating a slippery and hazardous surface.
Solution A: Connect a simple inclined tray between the air knife and the water bath, to catch the water and allow the runoff to return to the bath.
Solution B: Replace air knife with a simple suction system that draws water from the strands and collects it in a reservoir for removal. This can be purchased or constructed in house from a few pipes and a blower.
