Corona treatment
Vol. 27 #1, March 2000

Corona treatment is a method of oxidizing a film surface by generating free radicals on a film surface by election bombardment and ozone generation in the treater gap. Because of this chemistry, the surface can be degraded giving low molecular weight and weak surfaces. This leads to lower ink or lamination bond strengths even though the treatment level has increased, i.e., you can overtreat.
