DC drive failure
Vol. 24 #1, March 1997

The sudden appearance of high fre quency vibration on an extruder can result from various causes, but one of the most common, but most difficult to diagnose, is a DC drive controller failure where one SCR fails or misfires, creating a chopped, or pulsed, output to the motor.

This condition often requires a scope and a trained drives technician to diagnose.
