Twin Screw
Vol. 23 #3, Dec. 1996

When twin screw extruders are being studied for the difficult process of removing solvents, monomers, etc., from a reactor product, pilot scale testing is definitely in order. These tests are necessary to determine the screw design and barrel arrangement required.

Special care must be exercised in the extrapolation process. Pilot scale problems can be much greater in the production size equipment and should not be ignored when designing screws and barrels.
