Extruder Mounts
Vol. 23 #3, Dec. 1996

When an extruder is heated to operating temperature, the barrel has to expand. Most extruders have at least one support forward of the transmission. The barrel must slide through this support very freely or the machine alignment will be compromised. The support points should be smooth and lubricated with graphite or other high temperature lubricant.
