Pressure Blips
Vol. 23 #1, May 1996

If pressure transducers and rupture discs are mounted in the barrel, they will experience a pressure peak each time that the flight passes by. This pressure peak can cause premature failure of these devices.

This problem can be minimized by undercutting the screw flight slightly where it wipes by these devices.
