Pressure increases temperature
Vol. 22 #1, June 1995

Because extruders perform with low hydraulic efficiencies, generating pressure will result in increasing temperatures.

For adiabatic operation (with 1.0 specific gravity, 0.5 heat capacity, and 10% hydraulic efficiency) a rule of thumb for the temperature rise is 0.5 degrees C per atmosphere pressure increase.
