Barrel Thermocouple Maintenance
Vol.21 #2, Oct. 1994

Barrel thermocouples are often of a spiral armor construction, so the bayonet connector can be adjusted for depth.

The problem is, they can be set too short or vibrate loose so that the end of the thermocouple is no longer in contact with the bottom of the hole. This will cause drastic errors in temperature control, easily 50 to 100 degrees F!!

Add this item to your yearly maintenance and troubleshooting checklist.
