Screw Wear - Vol. 17 #2, July 1990

To detect screw wear, keep a log of specific output (lbs/hr/rpm). Operators tend to increase rpm to compensate for wear, resulting in higher melt temperatures. A monthly check of specific output will warn about screw wear.
