Protect the Pump
Vol. 24 #2, Sept. 1997
When operating an extrusion gear pump, a differential pressure of 100 psi or greater must be maintained between suction and discharge of the pump to assure proper bearing lubrication. Highly viscous products, such as HDHMWPE may require up to 800 psi differential.
If your process requires the use of higher suction than discharge pressures, notify the pump manufacturer to assure that the pump is assembled to lubricate the bearings properly.
