Die lip buildup
Vol.20 #3, Dec. 1993
Die lip buildup is a common problem in many polymer processes. This problem can be minimized by:
1. Setting the die lips at a lower temperature.
2. Running the melt temperature at a lower temperature.
3. Adding stabilizer concentrate to the resin.
4. Each time the line is down, clean the die lips thoroughly.
5. Check the die lips for thin or missing plating.
