Water Cooling
Vol.20 #2, July 1993
Water is a critical item in extrusion cooling. Many companies throw water out, even though they may have their own wells. Why not recirculate and reuse with low cost pumps? I started with used pumps from a clothes washer!
First, check the water for quality. Beware of additives that create scale under hot water conditions. From the cooling trough we pushed the water through a small cooling unit and through a water softener. The loss in water was negligible.
