Vol 17 #1, Feb. 1990 - LLDPE Lensing
When running granular LLDPE and color concentrate on larger diameter machines, lensing or voids frequently occur because some of the fine particles tend to stick to the hot root diameter in the feed section of the screw.
Using screw cooling, but only to the end of the feed section, will prevent sticking, air entrapment and lensing.
