Cleaning dies
Vol. 22 #2, September 1995
Two useful tools for cleaning blown film dies are powdered stearic acid and brass twist drills. The stearic acid, when sprinkled on hot polyethylene, will soften it so it can be wiped off with a rag. The stearic acid should be left to react with the polymer for 10-20 minutes. The brass twist drills can be used to clean out long feed ports.
